How to Beat the Disneyland Price Hike
Disneyland announces a bunch of new stuff, along with higher prices to get into the parks. Meanwhile, Busch Gardens announces a new swing ride, but you might want to check your phone before you go.
Who’s in the mood to spend even more money to go to Disneyland? No one, I know. But Disney went ahead and raised ticket prices on all but its lowest tier of one-day passes, with most tickets going up around 9%.
But there is a way to beat the price increase… if you act quickly. Disneyland’s authorized resellers may continue to sell tickets at the old prices for the next nine days, so long as their supplies last. Our travel partner has them, and you can save an additional $5 on each purchase with a promo code at checkout. It’s all in our wrap-up of the changes: Disneyland Raises Ticket Prices, But There's Still a Way to Save.
If you did not see this story from us on your social media feeds when we posted it yesterday, well, you’re not alone. One of the frustrations with running a website in the social media era is that Facebook and Twitter now sharply penalize posts that include outbound links in their algorithms. And posts that mentions anything commercial - such as theme park ticket prices - get held hostage unless the publisher (that’s me) pays to have Facebook or Twitter show those posts to the people who had already chosen to follow that publisher (like you).
That leaves RSS feeds, browser bookmarks, and email newsletters like this one as the only reliable ways left that fans can get updates from a publisher. Thank you for following my work here on Theme Park Insider, and here are links to share this post and to sign up for this weekly newsletter.
Disneyland Announces Runaway Railway, New Show Openings: Yes, Disney taketh at the ticket booth, but it continues to giveth inside the park, which is why so many guests continue to pay ever-higher prices to visit Walt’s original theme park. We’ve got the official opening date now for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway as well as the new #Disney100 nighttime spectaculars. Check ‘em out.
Record-Setting Swing Ride Coming to Busch Gardens Tampa: Did you miss the new Tidal Surge at SeaWorld San Antonio? Then ride its twin when it comes to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay next spring. Serengeti Flyer is a record-setting (okay, tying) S&S Screamin’ Swing ride that will add another thrill to the popular Florida park. We’ve got a construction video, too.
Why Your iPhone Might Call 911 When You Ride a Roller Coaster: If you have an iPhone 14, you might want to check it before you get on that new Serengeti Flyer at Busch Gardens, or any other high-speed, high-G thrill ride at another park. Turns out that Apple’s new crash detection feature is having trouble telling the difference between a rollover crash and a heartline roll.
So how hard do I have to bang my head against the wall from dealing with stuff like this before my iPhone calls me in? Read more about this story.
