Disney reveals its future
We have all the reveals from D23, plus more news about 2025 from Six Flags, too.
Disney treated its fans to the biggest news dump of the year this past weekend. I was there, in the media section of the stands at the Honda Center in Anaheim for Josh D'Amaro's D23 Disney Experiences Showcase, which officially revealed more than a dozen new attractions coming to Disney theme parks around the world.
What's coming next to Disneyland, Disney World, and more: A new Villains land at Walt Disney World and a massive expansion of Disney California Adventure led the reveals at the Disney Experiences showcase Saturday night. We have the full list, which also includes Disney;s first Audio Animatronic version of Walt, its first Spider-Man roller coaster, and - finally - a Monsters, Inc. scare-floor-door coaster.
Walt Disney World will trade its rivers for more mountains: After the D23 Expo closed, Walt Disney World confirmed that the two Cars-themed attractions that were revealed for a "remagined" section of Frontierland would be replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. Since TSI was my first, and main, attraction back when I worked at Disney, I took a deep dive into what this change represents, and what it means for the Magic Kingdom and its fans.
